Spiking in Ireland
I was tasked with helping the lovely team at Cork Sexual Violence Centre in setting up the website for their latest campaign, Spiking in Ireland. Set up to raise awareness, challenge myths, and push for legislative and systemic change. Their mission is to help the public understand, get support and take action in the relatively under-reported and under-researched field.

The brief
Spiking in Ireland needed a professional, modern website that effectively informs, provides resources, support and advocates for victims affected by Spiking. The challenge was to present sensitive information clearly and accessibly to the public, raising awareness and helping drive change.
The Role
This was a solo freelance project, with me owning the entire process from initial design strategy through to launch. I was responsible for UX planning, visual design, accessibility enhancements, and the full Squarespace build — as well as ensuring that SEO best practices and clear calls to action were built in from the ground up.
Approach
Working closely with the Spiking in Ireland team, I developed a design strategy emphasising clarity, professionalism, and engagement. The website needed to be easy to navigate and well-structured to effectively highlight the sensitive topic, raise awareness, and leave space for future updates as the campaign progresses.
Key Features:
Responsive Design: Implemented a fully responsive layout to provide a seamless experience across desktops, tablets, and mobile devices.
Clear Breakdown: Designed an intuitive structure that categorises Spiking in Ireland’s resources, legislation, medical information and research, making it easy for customers to find relevant information.
Strong Visual Identity: Utilised a clean, modern design with high-quality visuals while remaining sensitive to the topic to enhance brand credibility and professionalism.
Accessibility Enhancements: Ensured the website was accessible to a wide range of users by incorporating best practices for readability and navigation.
SEO Optimisation: Built with SEO best practices to enhance search engine visibility and reach potential clients effectively.
Content Management System: Developed the site on Squarespace, an easy-to-manage platform, allowing the Spiking in Ireland team to update content as needed without technical expertise.
The result is a sleek, informative, and functional website representing Spiking in Ireland’s commitment to advocacy in this important space.
